PREVENTATIVE DENTISTRY: SEALANTS

Sealing permanent teeth fissures and pits is a treatment that prevents caries formation. It consists of a sealant which is painted into the fissures that tooth brushes cannot normally reach. It’s a noninvasive procedure and sealants can be reapplied with time.

Prevention programmes vary from patient to patient, however, if caries still form, they can be treated using little invasive procedures by using composite fillings or ceramics inlays or other techniques which are selected depending on patients’ needs.
